- TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION FOR MINORS UNDER 18 YEARS-OLD
Due
to the high number of applications received, the Consulate-General does
not confirm the receipt of documents neither checks the status of any
process over the phone or email.
The travel authorization for minors is a document required by the Brazilian authorities for a Brazilian child to travel (alone or accompanied by one of the parents or a third party), on any occasion to and whitin and from Brazil.
The authorization must be signed by the parents or legal representatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- If both parents are Brazilian nationals, they must come in person to the Consulate, with their Brazilian identification documents (valid passport or identity card).
- Letter from both parents authorizing the minor to apply for a Brazilian visa (when applicable).
- Copy of the Birth Certificate with the parents' names. If the birth certificate does not have the parents' names, a new copy must be requested to Vital Stats Canada before the travel certificate is submitted to the Consulate General.
- 2 photos of the child - 3x4cm, front face and white background.

1 original Travel Authorization Form, completed, signed and notarized:
- If one of the parents is foreigner, he or she must sign the travel authorization form before a notary public and have the notary's signature certified by the Provincial Government (usually, the notaries society or the law society), before submitting the authorization to the Consulate for legalization.
- If one or both parents (Brazilian citizens) cannot come in person to the Consulate, they will need to fill out the trip authorization and them before a notary public and have notary's signature certified by the Provincial government (usually, the notaries society or the law society), before submitting the authorization to the Consulate for legalization.
The notarized authorization form must be legalized by the Consulate General of Brazil.
LEGALIZATION FEE:
- CAD$31.25 for 1 signature to be legalized and 1 notarized copy (if accompanied of one parent or if both signatures have been authenticated by the same notary public);
- CAD$56.25 for 2 signatures to be legalized and 1 notarized copy (if unaccompanied of both parents or if the parents' signature have been authenticated by different notaries);
FORMS OF PAYMENT:
- Money order or certified cheque only.
- Payable to the "Consulate-General of Brazil".
- The Consulate does not accept payments in cash, personal cheques or debit/ credit cards.
NOTES:
- The travel authorization application can be included with the Brazilian passport or Brazilian visa request.
- Make sure you have both tracking numbers for your own control. Due to the large number of documents received everyday, the Consulate is unable to confirm the arrival of any application.
- The Consulate-General is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or delayed mail.
