CONDITIONS:
- Provision of services to a Brazilian government agency/organization under a contract or an international agreement;
- Work under a Brazilian-ruled employment contract;
- Technical assistance: if there is no proof of emergency, this visa must be requested in Brazil at the Ministry of Labor (Phone: 1 [55] [61] 314-6417 or 1 [55] [61] 314-6470) by the Brazilian company;
- • Crew members and other oil/gas specialists providing services within Brazilian waters;
• Crew members serving aboard a fishing vessel chartered by a Brazilian company;
• Crew members or other professionals performing paid activities aboard cruise vessels along the Brazilian coast or inland waters;
• Crew members for foreign vessels traveling to Brazil to operate in waters under Brazilian jurisdiction, as required by a charter, services or risk contract with a Brazilian company;
• Internship immediately following the conclusion of the undergraduate or graduate studies;
• Internship for the purpose of teaching English or another foreign language;
• Medical residence;
NOTES:
- Work authorization requested by the company in Brazil to the Ministry of Labor is required prior to visa application.
- The requirements listed are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa application, the Consulate has the right to request additional information/documentation, if necessary.
- An emergency visa V may be promptly granted, for up to 30 days (with no possibility of extension), under exceptional circumstances.
- The Consulate General will consider such applications when it is evident that the applicant's immediate presence in Brazil is essential to remedy emergency and/or unforeseen situations.
- The nature of the situation must be clearly and concisely explained on the employer's letter. Routine services obviously do not qualify for this type of visa. The Consulate General otherwise informs that such emergency visas, even under the most exceptional of circumstances, cannot be granted more than once in six months.
- Interns and volunteers are prohibited from holding any paid job in Brazil.
- For extended stays (a minimum of 6 months) the same type of visa can be issued to immediate family members. Those are, however, prohibited from engaging in any paid activity in Brazil.
- Medical or dental services can only be provided, on any circumstances, once the proper authorization by the Conselho de Medicina is issued.
- First arrival in Brazil must take place within 90 days from the date the visa was issued.
- This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. If necessary, a visa extension may be issued by the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the authorized stay (special requirements apply). Internships and medical residence visas are not eligible for extension.
- Whenever the planned stay exceeds 90 days, registration with the Federal Police in Brazil is mandatory within 30 days from first arrival in the country.
REQUIREMENTS:

Valid for at least six months. Passports expiring in less than six month will be
automatically returned.
- Signed on the designated space.
- With at least two empty pages to issue the visa.
- As with any official Government document, your passport must be in good and acceptable conditions.
Damaged passports will not be accepted and will be returned to the applicant.
- Copies are not accepted. Without the original passport, the application cannot be processed and will be returned to the sender.
The visa form delivery receipt, which has the protocol page (with bar code),must be printed and signed, and presented at the Consulate along with the necessary documentation listed here.

Proof of residence in the consular jurisdiction (copy of driver's licence or any bill);
Original police clearance certificate from the RCMP or local police (issued within the last 3 (three) months).
Copy of marriage certificate, birth certificate, or other official document if applying for extended stay visa to immediate family members.
FEE:
- CAD$125.00

American passports holders: there is an extra
administrative fee CAD$187.50, applied in reciprocity for similar fee
charged by U.S. authorities.

Handling fee for applications sent
by mail or third party (refer
below): CAD$25.00.
APPLICATIONS BY MAIL:
- Add CAD$25.00 for handling, per person, if application is submitted through a third party or by mail.
- If you submit your application by mail, please note that you have to provide a Canada Post (Xpresspost or Priority Courier) return envelope, prepaid and self-addressed. The use of any other courier companies will not be accepted under any circumstances.
- Make sure you have both tracking numbers for your own control. Due to the large number of documents received everyday, the Consulate is unable to verify the arrival of any application.
- The Consulate General is not responsible for delayed, lost, damaged or stolen mail.
FORMS OF PAYMENT:
- Money order or certified cheque only.
- Payable to the order of the "Consulate General of Brazil".
- The Consulate does not accept payments in cash, personal/company cheques or debit/credit cards.
NOTES:
- All supporting documentation that is not originated in Brazil must be authenticated by the Consulate. Copy of Brazilian supporting documents must be notarized by a notary in Brazil.
- When applicable, the Consulate General reserves the right to interview the candidate for a visa.
- Visa requirements and fees are subject to change without notice.
- Documents submitted will be kept on file. Please provide us with photocopies (except for the passport, which must be the original).
IMMUNIZATION:
- Yellow fever vaccination is highly recommended applicant's destination in Brazil includes any of the following States: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Federal District, Goiás, Macapá, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Piauí, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Roraima, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Tocantins.
