CONSULATE-GENERAL OF BRAZIL IN VANCOUVER
Due
to the high number of applications received, the Consulate-General does
not confirm the receipt of documents neither checks the status of any
process over the phone or email.
- Military service in Brazil is compulsory for every male Brazilian citizen between 18 and 45 years-old.
- Citizens living abroad must come personally to the Consulate-General in Vancouver for the mandatory military registration until June 30th of the year in which he will complete 18 years-old.
- The Consulate-General in Vancouver accepts registrations only from applicants coming from its jurisdiction: Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories and Yukon.
- Living abroad does not exempt Brazilian citizen to be updated with its obligations to the Brazilian Ministry of Defence.
- The person who does not have his military registration certificate will be subject to the payment of fines and will not have a legal military situation.
- Once registered, the applicant must present himself to the Military Registration Office (Junta Militar), at the city where he was born or where his parents have legal residence, within 30 days from his arrival in Brazil.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must come personally to the Consulate-General to sign his registration and have his fingerprints taken.
- Military registration form, dully signed and filled up.
- Brazilian birth certificate.
- Valid Brazilian passport or Brazilian identification card (RG).
- 3 (three) pictures, 3x4 cm. White backround, full front view of head and shoulders, without any strips on its lower and upper sides. Scanned and home photos are not accepted.

Proof of residence in the Consulate's jurisdiction (driver's licence, bill, school letter for students).
FEE:
There is no charge for the registration.
POSTPONEMENT OF INCORPORATION:
- As long as he lives abroad, the applicant needs to request a postponement of his military incorporation.
- The request must be done annually.

The applicant needs to present his original military registration certificate.
RE-ISSUANCE OF THE MILITARY REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE:
- The Consulate-General in Vancouver re-issues a new copy of the certificate for registrations done locally and within its jurisdiction.

There is a fine for the re-issuance, which must be paid in Brazil at the Military Registry Office.
APPLICATIONS BY MAIL:
- The application must be done in person.
- Only the request for a new copy can be done by mail. In this case, it's necessary to include the original military registration certificate and a prepaid and self-addressed envelope (Canada Post XpressPost) for return.
- Make
sure you have both tracking numbers for your own control. Due to the
large number of documents received everyday, the Consulate is unable to
confirm the arrival of any application.
- The Consulate-General is not responsible for lost, stolen or delayed mail.

Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be returned.
OTHER SERVICES:
