CONSULATE-GENERAL OF BRAZIL IN VANCOUVER
- INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER REGISTRY (CPF)
Due
to the high number of applications received, the Consulate-General does
not confirm the receipt of documents neither checks the status of any
process over the phone or email.
The Brazilian Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF) is mandatory for
individuals residing abroad who own properties and investiments in
Brazil subject to public registration including:
- real state
- vehicles
- vessels
- aircrafts
- stock shares
- banking accounts
- financial market investments
- capital market investments
REGISTRATION:

Print the Registration Form.
- Fill out the form with the required information.

Take the form and the original and a copy of the following documents
to the Consulate-General of Brazil in Vancouver:
- Identification document accepted in the country of residence that states the individual’s parenthood.
- Identification document of one of the parents, tutor, curator or
legal guardian, as well as a document that makes proof of parenthood,
tutelage or guardianship in case of application for registry of a minor
under 16 years of age or an incapacitated individual.
- Identification document of the attorney and a public, notarized
power of attorney document, in case the application is submitted by an
attorney.
Important: the request for registration of minors or
incapacitated individuals must be signed by one of the parents or
tutor, curator or guardian whose responsibility has been assigned by a
judicial decision.
TO CHANGE AN INFORMATION:
- Changing a name, date of birth or address can be request if needed.
- Alteration of name or date of
birth can only be requested with an identification document accepted in the
country of residence.
- Address alteration can be requested without proof.

The data Alteration will be effected as follows:
Take the form and the original and a copy of the required documents
to the Consulate-General of Brazil in Vancouver.
UPDATE THE INFORMATION STATUS:
There are 3 possible status for your CPF registry:
- Regular

Irregular
- The irregular status can be corrected at any time

Cancelled
- A cancelled registration can also be corrected whenever occurring, except when the person who is registered is deceased (please check below how to cancel a registration).
To correct your irregular or cancelled registry:
- Print the Registration Form
- Fill out the form with the required information
- Take the form to the Consulate-General of Brazil in Vancouver.
CANCELLING A CPF REGISTRATION:
- The CPF registration can only be cancelled when the person registered is deceased.
- In order to cancel it, the spouse or relative of the person must present the death certificate.
- Follow the steps above to cancel the CPF registration.
NOTE:

Once the Consulate receives your application, it will be forward to the Brazilian revenue agency (Receita Federal) for processing.

- When mailing your application, use Canada Post XpressPost service.
- Make
sure you have both tracking numbers for your own control. Due to the
large number of documents received everyday, the Consulate is unable to
confirm the arrival of any application.
- The Consulate-General is not responsible for lost, stolen or delayed mail.

Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be returned.
