Due
to the high number of applications received, the Consulate-General does
not confirm the receipt of documents neither checks the status of any
process over the phone or email.

Passport applied in
person will be valid for 5 years. Passport applied by mail or through a
third party will be valid for 3 years.
- Children born abroad Brazil, whose one parent or both are Brazilian, are recognized as Brazilian citizens and, therefore, must travel to Brazil with their Brazilian passport.
- The Consulate-General does not issue visas to Brazilian citizens.
Important Notice: If you try to access the online application form and you receive a security warning, please be advise that the website you are redirected to is a secure website. The security certificate is issued by the Brazilian governmental company responsible for the software used by the Brazilian Government. You can click on continue to this website to access the passport online form.
The electronic form is available at: https://scedv.serpro.gov.br and the protocol form must be printed and signed, and presented at the Consulate along with the necessary documentation listed here.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Old/Expired passport;
- Original and copy of the Brazilian Identity Card OR Brazilian Birth Certificate;
- 1 (one) pictures, 5x7cm (white background with full front view of head and shoulders, without any strips on the upper and lower sides). The picture do not need to be signed;
- Proof of Legal Status concerning the voter's obligation. If you don't have it, please contact the Consulate;
- For males only: original and copy of the military registration certificate for males between 18 and 45 years-old. For foreign nationals who have obtained the Brazilian citizenship, the military certificate is required at any age after the citizenship is granted.
- 1 (one) protocol document of the Travel Application Form signed and dated.
PASSPORT APPLICATIONS FOR CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS-OLD:
- For children 12 years and over: their presence is mandatory. If the child does not come to the Consulate, the passport will only be valid for 3 years, even if the parents come in person.
- Old/expired passport (if applicable);
- Original and copy of the Brazilian Birth Certificate*, with the parents names on it;

1 (one) picture, 5x7cm, (white background with full front view of head and shoulders, without any strips on the upper and lower sides). The pictures do not need to be signed;
- 1 protocol document of the Travel Application Form signed by both parents or legal guardians.
*If the child does not have a Brazilian Birth Certificate, s/he must be registered at the Consulate before applying for the passport. For more information, click here.
If both parents are Brazilian citizens, the form does not need to be notarized unless if the application is sent by mail.
If one of the parents is not a Brazilian citizen, the forms must be notarized before sending the application, even if the application is made in person at the Consulate;
- Copy of the first two pages of the parents or legal guardian's passports;

Copy of the Brazilian national ID for the Brazilian parent or parents.
FEE:
- CAD$100.00 for new or expired passport.

CAD$200.00
for replacement of stolen, lost or damaged passport. Applications for
replacement passports must have the police report included and the stolen, lost or damaged passport form.
FORMS OF PAYMENT:
- Money order or certified cheque only.
- Payable to the "Consulate-General of Brazil in Vancouver".
- The Consulate does not accept payments in cash, personal cheque or credit cards.
NOTE:
-
The application can be done through postal service.
- In case of applications by mail, all the copies and both application forms must be notarized.
- If you want the Consulate to mail your passport back, the application must be accompanied by a pre-paid, and self-addressed envelope from Canada Post (Xpresspost or Priority Courier only). Regular envelopes will not be accepted.
- Make sure you have both tracking numbers for your own control. Due to the large number of documents received everyday, the Consulate is unable to confirm the arrival of any application.
- The Consulate-General is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or delayed mail.
OTHER SERVICES:
